On 9 December 2025, the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle visited the historic museum ship “Hellas Liberty" at the Port of Piraeus. Ms Guilfoyle was welcomed by the Minister of Shipping, Mr. Vassilis Kikilias, the President of the “Hellas Liberty”, Mr George Tsavliris and members of the “Friends of Liberty Association”.

The International Salvage Union has released its latest estimates for pollution prevented in the marine environment from operations by its members in 2024. Salvage companies have prevented pollution from 2.4M tonnes of cargo and fuel from distressed ships during 162 services.

Read More On 18 January 2025, the Bulk Carrier “EVANTHIA” (GT 32,474 – DWT 53,284) was disabled due to main engine problems, 300 n.m. W of Cape Town, South Atlantic. The vessel was en route from Porto D’Agua, Brazil to Chittagong, Bangladesh, laden with raw sugar. Tsavliris towed the vessel to Durban, South Africa.
